Compression screws are used to widen a narrow alveolar ridge without cutting it away. After a pilot channel is established, the screws are threaded in sequentially from smallest to largest; each tapered body displaces bone laterally rather than removing it, so the ridge is expanded and the surrounding bone is condensed at the same time. In a knife-edge ridge that would otherwise need a graft or a split-crest procedure, this can create enough width to place an implant in a single visit, and the compaction improves primary stability in soft bone. The kit steps through four sizes — Ø1.8/2.6, Ø1.9/3.6, Ø2.4/4.1 and Ø3.5 mm — each anodised in a distinct colour band, with a pilot drill at the left of the tray to open the initial channel. The tray face prints a reference table mapping each colour to its working diameter at 8, 10 and 12 mm depths, so the operator can select the screw that matches both the planned implant width and the available bone height without leaving the field. A hex extender and a knurled manual knob complete the set: the knob allows the screws to be advanced slowly by hand, which is the usual technique, since controlled manual torque gives better tactile feedback than a handpiece when expanding a thin ridge.
