From the manufacturer

Description

The Adams plier is the standard tool for forming and adjusting Adams clasps and other retentive components on removable appliances. Its two square-ended beaks meet flat and parallel, so wire is gripped along its full width and bends form as clean, sharp angles rather than curves. This heavy-duty version carries a serrated face on one beak, which bites into the wire and stops it rotating or slipping under the higher loads involved in bending up to .040" (1.0 mm) — the practical difference from the plain-beak 1727-18 on the same page. On G-14 it is marked with the circled "inserted product" symbol defined on G-1, meaning the mouthpart carries a hardened steel or tungsten carbide insert in a stainless steel body.
