From the manufacturer
The two beaks are offset square blocks that pass one another as the handles close, so the archwire is displaced sideways in a single controlled action rather than built up from separate bends. That offset is the size: this 0.25 mm model produces the smallest step in the family, for fine detailing and finishing where a tooth needs only a slight vertical or in-out correction. Because the bend is made in one squeeze, the wire can be stepped while still ligated in the brackets — no removal, no re-tying. Larger corrections move up the range to 0.50, 0.75 and 1 mm. It sits alongside the 1732 Z Bend Plier on the same page, which places a larger root-tip-back Z bend rather than a measured detailing step.
