The Accuram 1421-10 is a straight periotome from the Luxators range, supplied with a 2 mm working tip at an overall length of 15 cm. It is the finest tip size in the family. The working end is a slim, hollow-ground blade drawn to a fine edge, carried on a straight shank in line with the handle axis. The shank tapers progressively from a stainless ferrule at the handle to the tip. Accuram describe the straight tip as giving access to hard-to-reach areas during molar extraction. The handle is moulded plastic in a broad, paddle-shaped profile with a rounded butt, finished in white with a dimpled non-slip field and green inlaid grip strips running along both faces. A green band wraps the base. The blade is secured into the handle through a polished stainless ferrule and collar. The handle carries the Accuram Instruments name and the CE mark. The colour of the grip strips is functional rather than decorative. Every reference in the 1421 range carries its own stripe colour, so a clinician can identify the tip geometry and size by sight on a set-up tray without reading the shank.
