The Accuram 1220-34 is a Tofflemire universal matrix retainer from the Restorative range. Matrix retainers hold metal bands or strips around a tooth to create a temporary mould while filling material is packed into place. The retainer uses the standard Tofflemire mechanism. A threaded spindle runs the length of the body and is driven by a knurled inner knob, which tightens the band loop around the tooth. A second knurled outer knob adjusts the position of the vise block along the body, setting the size of the loop. The band ends are fed into a diagonal slot in the vise block, and a spinal pin stabilises the band within the holder once tensioned. The head carries an offset U-shaped channel with an out slot that holds the band in position and controls its orientation as the loop is formed. The offset geometry allows the body of the retainer to sit clear of the occlusal plane and the opposing arch while the band is seated. Both knobs carry a deep diamond knurl for positive grip and fine adjustment with gloved or wet hands. The instrument is supplied in stainless steel throughout, with a satin-finished body and machined threads. The body is laser-marked with the Accuram Instruments name, the CE mark and the reference number 1220-34. The 1220-34 is the universal-size Tofflemire, designated (mm5-6-7) in the catalogue. A smaller junior version, 1220-36, is available in the (mm5) size only. Manufactured under Accuram's standard production process, which the company describes as following German manufacturing techniques, with tolerances held to DIN norms and each lot accompanied by a Q.C. certificate carrying a unique traceability ID.
